Trainer Stephen McKee believes Passing Shot will show improvement from his first up run when he contests the Listed SAJ Fruit Supply Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on Saturday.
"He shot to the front but faded last start over 1000 meters," said McKee.
"This race should suit him better as should the 1200 metres. He is far better off in weight, dropping from 58 kilos to a comfortable 54.5 kilos.
"He galloped well on Tuesday morning and his first up nerves and stress from the trip have settled."
The Go Racing runner has drawn barrier one and he will be ridden by Ben Melham.
