While he believes his stable star Winx (Street Cry) is the best she's been heading into Saturday's Gr.2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) at Randwick, Chris Waller has warned punters not to write off another of his runners.

Waller saddles six of the eight runners in the race including Who Shot Thebarman (NZ) (Yamanin Vital).

"He's had the benefit of a first up run and he likes the wet," said Waller. "He's come back probably better than ever and he's in for a good preparation."

"A mile second up is tough but you can never discount horses like him."

Who Shot Thebarman finished sixth behind Winx when resuming in the Gr.2 Warwick Stakes on August 20.

The champion trainer also warned that Winx is not a certain starter should Sydney receive the rain that has been predicted.

"She came through her first up run well and she does handle wet tracks but what people don't see is what comes out the other side," he said.

"She's a fit horse but a heavy 10 track would take a lot out of her.

"Her whole preparation has been designed so that if we miss a run at some stage it will have no effect on her grand final.

"We will make a decision on Saturday morning, there's no use getting too caught up in it. The rain they're predicting might not come."

Four-time Group One winner Preferment (NZ) (Zabeel) will kick off his spring preparation in the Chelmsford with Waller commenting that he will need the run to get back to his best fitness.
