Lucia Valentina remains firmly in Cox Plate reckoning after she pleased connections with her fourth placing to glamour mare Winx in Saturday's Gr.2 Warwick Stakes in Sydney.
The Lib Petagna-raced Savabeel mare was less than 4 1/2 lengths from Winx in her first run of her six-year-old campaign.
Petagna's racing manager Bruce Perry said: "She was doing her best work at the finish and that will bring her on nicely. We're really happy with that. She was as big condition-wise as she's been.
"She's still got 10 weeks till the Cox Plate. She'll probably have her next run in the Turnbull Stakes and she could go straight to the Cox Plate after that but we've got time on our side so we can make changes as we see fit."
