Dual Group One winner and valuable broodmare The Jewel has died in a freak accident after striking her head while undergoing a dental procedure.
The winner of 11 of her 30 starts and prizemoney of $541,363, The Jewel has produced three winners from four foals to race including The Diamond One who won the last three renewals of the Gr.3 White Robe Lodge Handicap.
The O'Reilly mare is also the dam of stakes performers The Glitzy One and Fastnet Rock stallion The Bold One.
A colt out of The Jewel, by Savabeel, will be offered at the New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sales Series in January 2017.
