Pukekohe trainer Richard Collett enjoyed a trans-Tasman double on Wednesday with Untamed Diamond successful in Sydney and Son Taari a winner at Avondale.
Collett was on hand to see talented mare Untamed Diamond scoot to an on-pace victory at Canterbury in Sydney in the hands of apprentice Deanne Panya at her fourth start in Australia.
"She left New Zealand a 72 rated horse and turned up rated 76 in Australia so she really couldn't be placed that well here until she had the three runs," Collett said.
Despite boasting a fourth placing in a Listed race in New Zealand and a fifth behind Xtravagant at Group Three level, Collett said Untamed Diamond was "a shade off the better ones."
"It's good to get Deanne on her. We were riding her positively in New Zealand but we had bad draws at her first three runs here so we were holding her up a shade," Collett said.
