An unorthodox path to Sydney will see the Tony Noonan-trained Manolo Blahniq make his Australian debut in Saturday's Gr.3 San Domenico Stakes.
The son of Jimmy Choux has taken an unusually long and winding route to Rosehill after winning last season's Gr.3 Eclipse Stakes at Ellerlsie in his first campaign for Cambridge horseman Craig Thornton.
He was subsequently sent to Queensland to spell in the care of Kelly Purdy by Noonan, who bought the colt for $115,000 at Karaka in 2015, and then on to the Warwick Farm stable of Todd Rawiller.
"Todd used to work for me and I had no hesitation in giving him the horse to look after in Sydney. He's thrived at Warwick Farm," Noonan said.
