An exciting and honourable element has been added to the gavelhouse.com August catalogue with a service to Westbury Stud's El Roca to be auctioned and all proceeds being donated to the Cancer Society of New Zealand.
El Roca, who is awaiting the arrival of his first foals this spring, stands at Westbury Stud's Karaka showpiece property for $7,500 alongside Makfi, Redwood, Swiss Ace, Postponed, Red Giant and Reliable Man.
A highly regarded son of champion sire Fastnet Rock, El Roca raced on both sides of the Tasman with his performances earning him a Timeform rating of 121 as a three year old – equalling that of five-time Group One winner Dissident plus Puccini, Eurozone and Notlistenin'tome.
Performing at the highest level during his racing career, he defeated a long list of respected Group One winners including Criterion, Dissident, Sacred Falls, Terravista, Boban, Fat Al, Long John, My Kingdom of Fife, Red Tracer, Romantic Touch, Streama, and Atlante.
"We are delighted to partner with the Cancer Society as they seek to raise money for a terrific cause, and one which affects a significant number of people involved in our industry," said Westbury Stud Managing Director Russell Warwick.
"El Roca received a warm welcome to his stud career in 2015, covering more than 105 mares with a number of very well bred mares included within his book.
"El Roca's sire Fastnet Rock has created a huge impression as a sire of sires, with his sons Hinchinbrook, Smart Missile, Stryker, Rothesay, Foxwedge and Wanted all making impressive starts to their stud careers."
With gavelhouse.com's results seeing the site leading the way in online thoroughbred auctions in New Zealand, Sales and Marketing Manager Haylie Martin is looking forward to another bumper catalogue launching on August 22 commenting "The site has the capacity to sell stallions shares and nominations as well as horses so we're delighted we can christen this feature while contributing to a very worthy cause."
