No Payne for Prince in Memsie

Michelle Payne won't be riding Prince Of Penzance when the Melbourne Cup winner returns to the track in the Memsie Stakes.

Part-owner John Richards said while a decision on who will ride Prince Of Penzance is yet to be finalised, the ownership group has decided that Payne won't be in the saddle at Caulfield on August 27.

"The horse will be running in the Memsie Stakes and she won't be riding," he said.

"That is the major reason, that she is not race fit and we have concerns over her wellbeing."

The decision has obviously angered Payne, who vented her frustration on Twitter on Wednesday morning before subsequently deleting the post.

"Not anymore I'm done, Why work your arse off for people who don't appreciate what you do and write you off anyway #moretolife," she posted.

Payne has been on the sidelines recovering from a fall at Mildura in May that left her hospitalised and requiring pancreatic surgery.

The Melbourne Cup-winning rider has been riding work for the past couple of weeks as she determines when and if she will resume her riding career.

Payne was unavailable for comment but recently spoke with the Australian Woman's Weekly and outlined her desire to return to the track.

"I still have a massive fire in the belly to saddle up for one more Spring Racing Carnival, I love competing and feel I've got more to give," she said. -racing.com
