Lee Somervell is due to take home the thick end of the stake in the Listed Ryder Stakes.
The Cambridge horseman has twice finished runner-up with Addictive Habit and Stradivarius and his hopes of going one better on Saturday in the Courtesy Ford-sponsored feature rest with Impulsive Habit.
"I've got a lot of time for this horse," Somervell said. "He lacks experience, but he doesn't lack ability and he's got terrific potential."
Second on debut at Te Rapa, Impulsive Habit will be on trial on Saturday for a return trip to the central districts for the Gr.2 Sacred Falls Hawke's Bay Guineas on October 1.
