The Memsie Stakes at Caulfield on August 27 is a likely starting point for the spring campaigns of the New Zealand-bred Group One winners Tarzino and Tavago.
The former's trainer Mick Price said he didn't want his colt to have a testing first-up run over a mile so he has opted for the 1400 metres of the Memsie for the VRC Derby and Rosehill Guineas winner.
Tarzino will then have Group One runs in the Makybe Diva Stakes and the Underwood Stakes before the Turnbull Stakes, after which Price will decide between a Caulfield Cup or Cox Plate start.
Meanwhile, Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young's Australian Derby winner Tavago will trial ahead of the Memsie, which will kick off his Caulfield Cup campaign. He is one of 15 horses they have transferred to their new training base at Cranbourne.
