Strapping filly New York Minute doesn't do things by halves and she powered to another runaway success at Saturday's Taranaki meeting.
The daughter of Iffraaj had won her previous start at Waverley by nine lengths and she trumped that with a 12 length victory against the older horses in the Horton & Co Ltd 1400.
Taranaki trainer and part-owner Ilone Kelly proved the master of the under-statement following New York Minute's stroll around her home track.
"She's looking good," she said. "I'll take her home and hope the rain hangs around, she's a lovely filly."
New York Minute was a debut winner last season and then finished runner-up in the Listed O'Leary's Fillies Stakes at Wanganui before niggling issues took their toll and she was given a good break.
"Ilone said she couldn't get her right, but she's come back so well," rider Lisa Allpress said.
She allowed New York Minute to stride along at the head of the field and they were in a race of their own in the straight.
"It's tough out there and it's just a matter of guiding them through it," Allpress said.
Itsagem was a distant second ahead of Darci Mac, who is now unlikely to follow through with his nomination for the Gr.3 eStar Winter Cup at Riccarton next month.
