Spreadeagled's immediate future will be determined by his performance at Flemington on Saturday.
"He's climbed the ladder now, but he's still got to go and take those next steps," trainer Robert Smerdon said of the New Zealand-bred son of Mastercraftsman.
"This run will assess where we are and then we'll work out where to go from there."
Spreadeagled has won five of his 10 starts for Smerdon and a rise in class on Saturday will result in a drop to 53.5kg, six kilos less than he carried to a last-start fourth at Moonee Valley.
