Next month's Pakuranga Hunt Cup is the next feature target for the grand jumper Amanood Lad.
Cambridge trainer Ben Foote was satisfied with the 11-year-old's sixth placing in the Wellington Steeplechase at Trentham last Saturday and hopes to tick off an elusive victory in the Tractor Centre Pakuranga Hunt Cup (4900m) at Ellerslie on August 20.
"He just came to the end of it last weekend, but we knew he wasn't quite there yet," Foote said.
Amanood Lad has twice won the McGregor Grant Steeplechase, in 2014 and last year, and also won the Great Northern Steeples in 2014, leaving the Pakuranga Hunt Cup as the only feature Ellerslie steeplechase he has yet to win.
