Jonathan Riddell's misfortune was Johnathan Parkes' good fortune when he guided O'Reilly's Choice to victory at Hastings on Wednesday.
Riddell was forced to forego his rides at the meeting due to ill health and the Wanganui-based jockey successfully substituted in the NZB Insurance Pearl Series Race.
"I do rate the horse quite highly and we'll be looking at some of the Guineas races for him," trainer John Bary said.
By O'Reilly, the colt is out of the Redoute's Choice mare Dorotea Dior.
