Kylie Little is hoping the handicapper has to take notice of Sir Kingwood after Saturday's Wellington meeting.
The Opaki trainer is desperate for more rating points for the six-year-old to confirm a trip south for next month's Gr.3 eStar Winter Cup at Riccarton.
"After he ran third last week I was thinking he could get enough points to get in the Opunake Cup, but he didn't get any so now we need a few more to head south," Little said.
"He's come through Awapuni nicely – he's very, very well."
Sir Kingwood finished off well for his placing behind Justlikeyasister last time out and he will be partnered by Rosie Myers in The Hanley Formula Whyte Handicap at Trentham.
Little is also backing up her Awapuni winner Zartan, another Myers ride, into the Lone Star Petone Parliamentary Handicap.
"It was always in the back of my mind, once they get up in the grades there aren't that many options at this time of the year," Little said.
"He's also come through his race really well and he just loves to roll along."
Zartan led all the way to comfortably account for his Rating 85 rivals last Saturday to post the fifth win of his 25-start career.
Meanwhile, Little will have fellow trainer Ken Duncan to thank if Red Sunset gives a bold account of herself in the Ekraar @ Linwood Park Maiden Hurdle.
"She's been up at Ken's place for a couple of weeks and done plenty of schooling," she said. – NZ Racing Desk.
