Sea King has opened his latest Australian campaign in fine style.
The Shinko King gelding, who has transferred from Kevin Myers' stable to Victorian trainer Patrick Payne, was a runaway winner of the Thackeray Quality Steeplechase at Warrnambool on Sunday.
"He's a Grand National Hurdle winner in Australia (in 2014) and he's got a feature race record in New Zealand," rider Steve Pateman said.
"He's brilliantly prepared by the best trainers in the world - Kevin Myers and Patrick Payne. I'm very grateful that the owners brought him back over and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season and hoping we get similar conditions."
