Regular central districts visitor Conroy is ready for another visit to his favourite city of Palmerston North.
The rising 11-year-old will chase his fourth career victory at Awapuni on Saturday in the Midwest Disposals Handicap.
While Conroy favours the left-handed way of racing, it is also the availability of jockey Jonathan Riddell that draws breeder, owner and trainer David Wilson south.
Riddell has ridden the His Royal Highness gelding in all four of his wins and also to a further six placings.
"If I can get Jonathan to ride him it's a big plus," Wilson said. "The horse is still trucking along and he seems very well."
Conroy made his first appearance of the winter at Awapuni last month and, with Riddell unavailable, Rosie Myers partnered him into fourth behind Justlikeyasister, a race rival again this weekend.
"Rosie said the better part of the track was out wide, but she couldn't get there with him," Wilson said. "He has come through it well though."
Conroy has been restricted to 22 starts after suffering a cracked cannon bone earlier in his career and a subsequent tendon problem.
"I don't know how long he will keep going for, but he is as sound as a bell at the moment," Wilson said.
"I'll take it a race at a time with him and if I feel he's not going as well as he should then I would retire him.
"I've got three other young ones here and three yearlings to keep me busy," – NZ Racing Desk.
