Sam Williams has taken a huge degree of satisfaction from Per Incanto's season and the part the Little Avondale Stud stallion is playing in the progress of the New Zealand breeding industry.
"After Zabeel and O'Reilly passed away we all needed something to step up and sure enough we had Savabeel and Tavistock going to the next level," he said.
"Now there's two young guns in Showcasing and Per Incanto producing numbers of winning two and three-year-olds.
"Per Incanto is now heading the three-year-old premiership for individual winners with 23, Savabeel has 21, Darci Brahma 20 and then Showcasing is on 19. It's all looking good for the future."
Williams has been particularly delighted to see the development of Per Incanto's stock between two and three.
"He's backed it up and he's done it off an initial $4000 fee, he didn't serve many Premier mares then and to date he's only had two yearlings in the Premier Sale," he said.
They were Magnum, who has won three of his eight starts for James Peters in Singapore where he has also been a Singapore Group One placegetter, and Indecision, who was an impressive debut winner for Tony Pike last month.
"The Per Incantos are training on and he's got some smart horses coming through with Amanaat winning his only start for David Hayes and Tom Dabernig, Glorious Beijing should be ideal in Hong Kong where Per Incanto's only runner has been Baba Mama, who won impressively at his fourth start.
"He's also had three winners from only seven runners in Singapore so it's really exciting."
Williams said Per Incanto served a quality book of 148 last season and he was expecting similar numbers and quality in 2016.
"We've got 70 bookings already and that's without having heard from the majority of shareholders yet.
"I've got 30 mares of my own to go to Per Incanto, including a number bought in Australia specifically to go to him." – NZ Racing Desk.
