KC Walters won his first race for more than two years when he guided Billy Elliot to victory at Wingatui on Thursday.
The 25-year-old, whose opportunities in between times have been severely limited by weight issues, gave a polished display aboard the Kevin Myers-trained jumper to claim the Wingatui Function Centre Open Steeplechase.
Walters will combine with Ngatira Gold, the winner of his last two starts for trainer Sam Logan, in Saturday's Te Whangai Romneys Hawke's Bay Hurdles.
