News of further success for Zacinto prompted a celebration in a much warmer clime than the venue of the stallion's latest winner.
The Inglewood Stud-based sire's promising daughter Wize Act was too good for her rivals in Saturday's nztba.co.nz Promotes South Island Racing Juvenile at Riccarton where she overcame a heavy track.
Zacinto has made an encouraging start to his career with autumn black type wins from the unbeaten Ugo Foscolo and Zigwig, who is raced by the stud and trained by Nick Wigley, father of the farm's general manager Gus.
"He's lying on a beach in Rarotonga so I had to do a commentary for him," Wigley senior said.
"We're thrilled to bits – it's been a great start and the horse's book filled up pretty quickly after those two stakes winners. All the reports from the trainers on them have been good."
Trained by Terri Rae who produced Margarita Mover for a smart midweek victory at Oamaru, Wize Act had finished runner-up on debut earlier this month and she wasn't fully extended to go one better for apprentice Samantha Wynne.
"Terri's done a great job with her and she's a classy little filly," she said.
Wize Act trailed in third spot to the turn before she came through on the inner to take control and comfortably repelled the challenge of the debutante Little Miss to score by a length and a half.
"I was just nursing her at the finish – it's pretty tough going out there and she's going to improve again with the run," Wynne said. – NZ Racing Desk.
