If Marenostro (NZ) (Duelled) is to reach the level his trainer thinks he can, he should be able to cope with carrying a big weight at Randwick.
Chris Waller has elected to stick with senior rider Tye Angland in Saturday's Racing To Win Hcp (1600m) rather than use a claiming apprentice on Marenostro, who will carry his full 60kg.
Group Three winner Casino Dancer, the original topweight, will carry 58kg with Jake Pracey-Holmes' three kilogram allowance.
"I think Marenostro is a horse who could get to an Epsom Handicap," Waller said.
"He will carry his full 60 kilograms and he should be able to cope.
"He's been a very good horse for the stable this year. He's a winner."
Punters agree, with Marenostro the $3.20 favourite on race eve ahead of Ammirata at $4.40.
Since returning from an autumn break, Marenostro has won his only two starts including a 1400m open-handicap earlier this month when he beat Inz'N'Out who is favourite for the Winter Dash (1200m) later on Saturday's program. -APP
