Emily Farr's confidence in Cullister will see the Rotorua-based jockey make another long trip south to continue her association with the mare at Awapuni.

The 25-year-old has just the one confirmed ride on Saturday, but she is optimistic the lengthy round trip will prove worthwhile.

Farr, who rode two flat winners at Wanganui on Thursday, will combine with the Gail Temperton-trained Cullister in the Tasman Insulation/Senco Brands Maiden Hurdle after their first outing at Hawera ended in disappointment when they parted company.

"She was definitely going to run in the first two – she was just picking up the bridle again," Farr said.

"I went down to ride her at Hawera in a point to point on Tuesday and she went well so I'm looking forward to Saturday."

Farr believes she also has two good mounts at the Te Aroha meeting on Sunday with Top Choice (Waihou Tavern Hurdles) and Goosebumps (Frank & Annie Matijasivich Memorial Open Steeplechase).

The winner of four races on the flat, Top Choice will be making his jumping debut but he has showed promise in the role.

"I won a jumping trial on him for Shaun Clotworthy and he goes alright," Farr said.

She is also familiar with the Mark Brooks-trained Goosebumps, who has a handy record on the track.

"I've had a couple of fourths on him this time in and I ran third on him last season," Farr said. "He's a bit of a Te Aroha specialist so I think he'll go well again."

Goosebumps has yet to finish out of the money in three starts over the big fences on the course where he also posted a hurdle victory. – NZ Racing Desk.
