Expect a much-improved display from Dramatist at Saturday's Whakatane meeting.
She missed out at Te Rapa recently when opening her campaign and trainer David Greene has tipped her to be far more competitive in the Ford Focus 1400.
"She got posted wide and she had to carry a bit of weight fresh-up," he said.
"She had a decent blow after that race and it was always the plan to go to Ruakaka – she needed a run to blow the cobwebs out and she should be right in the mix this time."
The winner of five of her 18 starts and a creditable sixth in last season's Gr.1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas, Dramatist has an ideal gate to suit her free-going style and she will again be ridden by Sam Spratt.
Greene, however, isn't so sure what to expect from the stable newcomer Volts who will return after a break in the Christmas in July at Ruakaka – Book Now Handicap.
"She hasn't got a very good draw so whatever she does she will improve," he said.
"We haven't had her that long so we're still getting a decent line on her. She needs a good track and she'll get a decent surface at Ruakaka so we'll see what happens."
Formerly with Roger James, Volts followed up a debut second with a maiden victory at Ellerslie in the spring.
In a subsequent return to the Auckland course on New Year's Day, the four-year-old finished fourth in a special conditions event. – NZ Racing Desk.
