Angel In Bluejeans is on her way home via Wednesday's Whakatane meeting.

The four-year-old will run in the first of the NZB Insurance Pearl Series Races at Te Teko after heading north on Sunday from Trina Riddell's Awapuni stable.

"She's owned by Margaret Falconer at Cambridge and the only reason she came down to us was that they couldn't get her in the starting gates for some reason," Riddell said.

"We've fixed that problem so we've sent her back and she'll spell with Margaret anyway."

Angel In Bluejeans was a first-up winner at Otaki for Riddell before she got home well for fourth at Wanganui. The daughter of Mastercraftsman was then seventh at Awapuni where she was forced to race three wide without cover.

"She was disappointing at her last start at Trentham," Riddell said. "I think the track was just too much for her, but she came through it well and the next day she was squealing and racing around the paddock."

Angel In Bluejeans is bred to handle rain-affected ground as her mother Dawn Till Dusk's six wins featured a Gr.3 Cuddle Stakes success on a wet track.

Two of her main rivals at Te Teko look to be the pair at the top of the handicap – Tatters and Wildflower.

The former was seventh in a stronger race behind Koenigsegg One at Rotorua before she was a game second after making the pace at Matamata.

Wildflower was a runaway maiden winner that day and she is from the very much in-form stable of Graham Richardson. – NZ Racing Desk.
